I have been involved in counselling, psychotherapy and teaching for too many years to count.
I trained as an Integrative counsellor with the Iron Mill in Exeter. It was largely an experiential course: the expectation was that reading was done at home and discussions, debates and growing (including arguments) would happen in the class room. That is pretty much my approach to counselling tuition.
I love teaching- I've taught all ages from 4 to 80 in schools, colleges and pupil referral units in England and France for over 30 years now. I love counselling and I've worked with people from 12 to 90 odd from such varied backgrounds with such varied lives. I have been privileged to be a small part of many wonderful people's darkest moments as well as sharing some of their brightest.
Put these ideas together and you get some idea of why I am excited by being a counselling tutor. Add to that the sheer delight of being a part of processes of self- actualisation and welcoming the next generation of counsellors (of whatever age) and now you can see why I am (almost) always excited to be in a counselling learning environment.
Bedonwell courses do expect a lot and there's a lot of personal development work, a lot of reading and a lot of pain ahead for those who choose to join us. There's also joy, friendship and bonding that can last a lifetime and much more.

Hi. My name is Sharon Byrne and I have been a tutor at Bedonwell for 4 years. I teach from levels 2 and 3, and on the level 4 Diploma, working with a variety of individuals enabling them to achieve not only a professional qualification but to also discover more about themselves along the way.
I trained at what was K college/East Kent College in Folkestone where the director of Bedonwell, Graham was one of my tutors and I completed a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling – an integrative approach. This became my steppingstone from a life in the education field to working for the NHS as a specialist Renal Counsellor.
I have always loved learning and feel this is has been a life long passion of mine, so whilst I moved to the NHS I also entered into the world of tutoring here at Bedonwell. As a child I always wanted to teach and trained to be a primary school teacher in my twenties, encountering many challenges and personal triumphs along the way. I would like others to be able to experience this sense of fulfilment as well, and I look forward to meeting you and being with you on your journey of self-discovery.
