  • Online Training that Transforms Lives

Initial Steps in Counselling Training Online Course

Entry Requirements

This 15 hour course is an open entry level and requires no previous qualifications. Attendance is for 3 hours per session over five sessions.

We welcome the participation of professionals in related fields of work that want to gain an understanding of what is involved in counselling skills training.

Alternatively, if you have no previous experience of working in related professions but want to find out whether or not working relationally to help and support others is for you then this could be the right initial training course for you.

This course is open entry and therefore no prior knowledge of counselling skills training is necessary. Personal development is a key element of how we can learn to improve upon our use of communication and therefore you will keep a reflective learning journal throughout the course. There will also be some short written assignments that will be marked by your tutor.

Students who have experienced their own personal therapy are often motivated to join the course with an aim of being able to utilise their personal experiences to help others. This is very welcome and often highly relevant.

The programme introduces the key concepts of basic counselling skills and includes key practice sessions, an introduction to counselling theories as well as professional ethical issues as they relate to counselling.

Our Teaching Style

All of our online courses are taught in a live interactive manner and all participants are encouraged to share their own thoughts and personal perspectives whilst valuing the contributions of others when discussing issues relating to helping relationships.
